Artist's Description
Multiple windmills are a common scene in rural Kansas; especially in the Flint Hills. The heavy hoarfrost of January 12, 2010 really isolates the windmills from the surrounding landscape. So far removed from other utilities; wind power is the only way to bring water up for cattle and windmills of this design are still in production today.
Camera Information: Camera Nikon D700; ISO 400; Aperture f/8; Shutter 1/1000 sec. Ref: KS102318D7.

We have tasted some of the same hoarfrost here in Denmark lately - cold as hell but it makes for some wonderful images. Congrats on your sale of this Fred and thanks for your message.

Lovely Winter scene, Fred. Favorites!

Thanks Tim. Yes, the direction of the vanes prompted the title Antithesis. The conditions necessary for hoarfrost to develop is no, or very light winds.

You were busy taking advantage of the hoar frost Fred and got some nice image! I like the spartan feel of this image. Its also humorous that the two windmill's blades are facing in the opposite direction. :)
