Thanks Julie. I don't want to give you any ideas, but the rancher that hung the rub sprays it with insecticide for the cows in the summer.

When my husband asks me to please scratch his back...I sometimes complain and tell him he should tie a rope between two trees with a burlap bag attached to it so he can just go out and scratch like cattle do! ;0) This could definitely, as you mention, be a shot from the 1800.s in the west.
