Description
Every year at about this time, the Flint Hills are burned to rid the land of tall grass thatch and small sapling trees. Starting trees, especially Red Cedar will overtake the land quickly, rendering the land useless for pasture. After the burn, the new grass will grow, sometimes 5 feet tall; and spring flowers will abound until crowed out by the grass. Camera Information: Camera Nikon D700; ISO 200, Aperture f/11; Shutter 1/100 sec.
